The third trimester/30 weeks

So this is it. The point where we've started counting down the weeks instead of up. Only 10 weeks left to go! I've started going to the doctor every 2 weeks now instead of every month. Not too exciting for the reader, I know, but very exciting for me! Now's crunch time - or so it seems. There's a lot of stuff that needs to get done - like decorating the nursery, finding a pediatrician [Beau note: words that are unable to be spoken around this place without me quoting this entire scene.], starting our childbirth preparation class, and finishing the list of books and movies I have yet to read/see before he gets here. :)

Oh! And I have to brag on Beau a little bit here. In one of my favorite pregnancy books, The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy, they said that husbands are generally very nice to their pregnant wives for the first 6 months or so, but it quickly wanes after that. Not so with this one! He's been such a saint since the very beginning, even when I haven't been quite...ahem...myself.

I can see the Hilton Head.

sunsetish.jpgWe ended up taking one more "we can still do this kind of thing" little mini-vacation to Hilton Head last weekend. It was a very, very nice, relaxing, fun trip.

The big news this time was that we took Zoe. She, of course, has never seen the ocean -- and isn't really that big a fan of water to begin with (here she is pulling away from me and the scary, gigantic waves. also note the dad/granddad casually hanging out watching the proceedings.). And while she eventually got used to things, what she really began to appreciate was getting her fur all nasty wet and then diving into the sand and rolling around.

So that was fun. Other fun stuff that we did: ate nice seafood dinners, took long walks on the beach, read books, saw real live, un-Sea World-ed dolphins jumping around in the ocean, went to Burger King, stopped by a place that wants to make our dog famous, got plenty of ice-cream, went to a playground and watched little kids playing. That last one was one of the most fun things we did. Just seeing the crazy, chaotic patterns of these kids was the best. Monkey bars! No, up the slide now! Wait! Climb that tree stump! Do those monkey bars again! Scream! Pick up sand and put it in the swing's seat! Meanwhile the parents would just kinda lope alongside their kids watching and hovering in spotter position.

Bottom line: it was fun break, but we're even more excited to get this baby show on the road.

Jeanine's belly is starting to look fake.

It's not, but still. I thought it would look more realistic.

It's all about Zoe...

We've tried to explain to Zoe (current princess of the Teague household) how her life is going to change once the baby gets here, but I don't think she gets it. Whenever any babies/kids are in the house, she gets scared and runs away. Heaven forbid one tries to touch her - I think she really believes they're going to kill her.

Beau will sometimes talk to my stomach and introduce himself to our son ("This is your father. Hello."), and Zoe just about goes crazy. She tries to wedge herself between Beau and my stomach. However, most of the time she just ignores my current physical state. She's never once said anything to me about it... or maybe she's just being polite.
