Been a while.

It's been a while. Luke turned 9 months old. He stood up on his own. He got his first big cold. He gained a new tooth. He had his baby dedication [here's the whole family and here's a few more pictures]. And he successfully attended the church nursery without us getting called out of the service.

He's also learned to say "hi", or at least what people hear as "hi". And in doing so, he's forcing me to be more social. We'll be at the grocery store where I'm in my own little world reading baby food labels, and Luke starts with his hi sound. He's pretty loud, so everyone in the aisle turns their head to see where the sound is coming from and then come over to say hi as well. He'll do this at Publix, Target, the mall, the park...and it's the funniest thing when people come over. He gets so excited that someone actually responds to him that he just sits there in awe, smiling and staring at them. They try to coax another hi out of him, but he's already done with the task, basking in blissful victory.

All in all, Luke is developing into his own little person, and I love every minute of it. I think Bill Murray said it best in Lost in Translation: "Your life, as you know it...is gone. Never to return. But they learn how to walk, and they learn how to talk...and you want to be with them. And they turn out to be the most delightful people you will ever meet in your life."
