As cliche as it sounds, it's hard to believe that the time has flown by so fast (didn't we just bring him home from the hospital?). Just in the past week, Silas has gotten so amazingly interactive. He's found his voice, so to speak, and loves to screech and then smile at your reaction. He's a real sweetheart, too - talking (he said "ma ma", I promise!), laughing, smiling. He'll also fake a cough if he wants attention. Luke did this, too, so I guess my boys learn early on that if you're a chokin', Mommy's a runnin'. Plus: Silas is eating real food! [ 8.9Mb Quicktime movie] But I don't think I'd be a fan of rice cereal, either... I find myself wanting to slow things down so that I can enjoy it more, but he just won't listen!

Something I'd like to add to my previous list...when Luke wakes up, if you're lucky enough, you might get to hear about one of his dreams...

So yesterday, after he wakes up from his nap, I hear him yelling in his room about alligators. He sounds completely freaked out, so I rush in there to see what's going on. He's visibly shaken (crackly voice and shaky bottom lip), and as I try to get it out of him, he can only utter short phrases.

Me: Luke, what's going on? Are you okay?
Luke: Alligators!
Me: Did you have a dream about alligators? Don't worry...there aren't any alligators here...
Luke: Throwing!
Me: The alligators were throwing things?
Luke: Yes!
Me [trying hard not to let him see the relief on my face]: Well, that's okay. I know we're not supposed to throw things, but...
Luke: Throw my milk!
Me: The alligators threw your milk?
Luke: In the trash!
Me [trying hard not to laugh]: It's okay, sweetie, we have plenty of milk downstairs for you. The alligators didn't throw it away.
Luke [shocked]: Milk's downstairs?
Me [trying so hard not to laugh]: Yes, let's go get some right now.
Luke: Okay.
{end scene}

As you can probably tell, Luke likes milk. But apparently, alligators do not. So beware. You never know what those alligators will do.
