Happy birthday, Faith!

Hey there, little lady. Are you really only three this year? 'Cause you sure act like you're older than that. You bring such a new kind of fun to our family, Faith. We look forward to hearing your perspective on everything in the year ahead!

Some of the many things I love about my kids #11:

There are so, so many things that I love about my kids, but right now I'm busy spending time keeping up with them that I'm forgetting about making the lists. However, I don't want to forget things, so I keep coming back to them. I started this one in July of 2010 (!!), but I'm still going to publish it because I don't want to forget (get ready for some more backlogged posts!)

Also, I didn't realize it when I started, but when the kids were younger, it was mainly the fun/cute things that make them unique that go on the lists. But as they get older, the things I love about them could either a) embarrass them or b) be taken as bragging. The same goes for the QotMs. That said, these lists and QotMs now focus more heavily on Faith, since the things she does are more quirky, and she's not old enough to be embarassed by them being on the internet. :)

  • How Faith shakes out the clothes when they come out of the dryer like I do.

  • How "Hold you?" is still the preferred method of Faith asking me to hold her. (Comes from me asking, "Can I hold you?")

  • How she approves with a "sure" instead of "yes".

  • How the boys scrunch up next to each other on the couch to play video games when there's plenty of room elsewhere.

  • When Faith tells me I'm her best friend.

  • That Luke is so excited about Faith's birthday that he made her a birthday card back in September (her birthday's in November).

  • How Faith hugs the legs of her brothers randomly (the way you see kids normally hanging onto their mother's legs).

  • How the boys somehow know to compliment Faith when she's wearing a dress she really likes or has a new bow in her hair.

  • Silas's hugs that show off how strong he can squeeze me.

  • Luke's love of the alphabet game in the car (sometimes he wants to start while we're still on the driveway).

  • That Silas brings home extra treats from parties and school for his siblings.

  • How the kids all like to watch TV - no matter the time of day - with the blinds shut and lights turned out "just like a movie" like Daddy likes to do.

  • Watching the boys read books to Faith, asking her to point out things she might recognize on the pages.

  • Faith's love of shoes, and...

  • How Faith likes to measure feet like in the shoe stores (my feet always measure "two-oh-seven").
